Arnhemland

Hier sind sie, einige der 1000 Bilder die ich geschossen habe. Ich haette es doch schon gestern reinsetzen koennen, weil der Markt wegen dem Regen eh geschlossen war. Heute ist es wieder schoen und vor allem HEISS wie immer und keine Spur mehr vom Regen.

Here they are, a few of the 1000 pictures I took. I should have done that yesterday cuz the markets were closed anyway because of the rain. Today it is nice again and HOT as every day and nothing left of any water from above.

Mein Boss Max Davidson (vielleicht bekannt durch Sweetheart dem Krokodil, dass gerne Boote angegriffen hat) beim Wein trinken. Das war ein lustiger Abend mit den Kollegen.

Eine Suesswasserschlange auf meinem Schoss... Ich muss wohl verrueckt sein. Ich hab mich mal auf die Info verlassen, dass ihre Zaehne abbrechen bevor sie durch die Haut kommt. Ihre Haut war wahnsinnig rau damit die Fische beim erwuergen nicht abrutschen.

A freshwater snake on my legs... I guess I am getting mad. I trusted the information that her teeth will brake before she can get through your skin. Her skin was really rough so the fish can't escape while she is strangling them.

Wunderschoene, teilweise riesige Hoehlen mit vielen Wandmalerreien. Damals haben hier Aborigines gelebt. Wenn einer der Familienmitglieder gestorben war, wurden seine Knochen einige Jahre spaeter wieder in die Hoehle in Papier eingwickelt gebracht und in Spalten gesteckt, damit die Seele wieder zu seinem Zuhause wandern kann. Davon durfte ich leider keine Bilder machen, da schoneinmal die Polizei vorbeikam um herauszufinden wer denn da Menschenknochen versteckt.

Beautiful, sometimes giant caves with lots of paintings. In the past Aborigines were living here. If one of there family members died they brought his bones back wrapped in paper after a few years and put them into gaps, so his soul can come back to his home. I wasn't allowed to take pictures of that because the police came over once to find out who is hiding human bones.

DARWIN

Was eine Schande... Von Darwin hab ich garnicht so viele Bilder gemacht bisher, aber das wird sich bald aendern, versprochen... Hier nur einige wenige.
What a shame... I didn't take many pictures of Darwin but that will change soon, promise! Here just a few.

WHERE WE LIVE

Ein Overflow Parkplatz neben dem Casino. Dort haben wir Dennis Auto geparkt und benutzen es als unser Haus. Geschlafen wird allerdings neben dem Auto aus Platzgruenden. Abends fuellt sich der Parkplatz mit 30 Vans oder mehr und es ist wahnsinnig schoen zusammenzusitzen und zu quatschen.

An overflow parking area beside the Casino. That is where we parked Dennis car and we are using it as our house. But we slept beside the car.. no room inside. In the evenings there are arriving 30 vans or more and it is really nice to sit together with some other people for a chat.

Ja... wir haben es schon schlecht... schlafen direkt am Strand und lassen uns von dem Wind ein wenig abkuehlen. Das Wasser hat Badewannentemperatur und ist deswegen leider alles andere als erfrischend. Ins Wasser koennen wir aufgrund der Wuefelquallen nur auch nicht mehr.
Yes... poor us... sleeping right at the beach, letting the wind cool us down a bit. The water is like taking a warm bath so not really refreshing. But because of the box jelly fish we can't jump in anymore anyway.

TO DARWIN - What to do when you get bored

Die Geschichte zweier Maedels die sich auf dem Ruecksitz im Auto gelangweilt haben. Und wer wird leiden? Die Maenner natuerlich. Hier die ganze Geschichte mit den Bildern von uns und den armen Opfern.

The story about two girls who got bored sitting in the back of the car. And who will suffer? MEN of course. Here the hole story with all the pictures of us and our victims.

Mmmmmh... laaaaaaaaaaangweilig. Was machen wir denn jetzt? Dennis liest... Stevey faehrt... Keiner spricht mit uns. Dann basteln wir uns halt einen neuen Freund.

Mmmmmh... boooooooooooring. What could we do? Dennis is reading... Stevey is driving... Noone is talking to us. Lets create a new friend.

Das ist ja schonmal ein Anfang, aber die Nase ist staendig runtergefallen.

Zu Abwechslung mal wieder Nagellack tragen haben wir fuer ne gute Idee gehalten.
A bit nailpolish for a change would be a good idea.

Dafuer musste dann der Dennis herhalten und wir glauben es steht ihm gut. Das macht Lust auf mehr.

We used Dennis and we think it suits im good. We had to do more.

Der Dennis hat aber auch echt nen schoenen Knutschmund! Dennis really has the perfect lips for that.

What a hairy beauty... HOT!

Stevey hatte noch Glueck, dass er fahren musste. Wir konnten ihn nicht allzusehr ablenken, aber wir fanden er macht sich eh besser als Haarmodel.
Stevey was lucky that he had to drive. We couldn't distract him to much but we thought he is a better hair model anyway.



Oooooh ja, so waren die 2 tanken und Nagellackentferner hatten wir natuerlich auch nicht, also musste Dennis seinen Look ein wenig behalten.
Ich kann nur sagen: Wir haben die ganze Autofahrt geheult vor lachen.
Danke Stevey und Dennis, es war toll mit euch zu reisen!!!
Oooooh yes, they had to get patrol and of course we didn't have nailpolish remover so Dennis had to keep that for a while.
I can only say: We were laughing tears all the way to Darwin.
Thank you guys, it was great to travel with you. What an amazing time.

KIMBERLEYS

Die Kimberleys... Das ist mal wieder ein Gebiet was man nicht verpassen darf. Die Landschaft am Tag und der sternenklare Himmel in der Nacht... Leider nur befahrbar mit einem Gelaendewagen weil man wie auf nem Wellblech faehrt und anderen Hindernissen.
The Kimberleys... This is again an area you shouldn't miss. The landscape during the day in the starlit sky at night... Unfortunately you need a 4WD for that because you drive like on corrugated iron sheet and other hurdles.

Camping ground

Wenn das Krokodil wegschwimmt wenn du zu nah kommst, dann ist es ein Suesswasserkrokodil (hat ausserdem eine schmalere Schnauze und wirkt auch viel freundlicher), aber wenn es ins Wasser abtaucht, dann sollte man lieber laufen, denn dann ist es wahrscheinlich ein Salzwasserkrokodil was seine Beute gefunden hat.

Dieses hier hat das Weite gesucht wenn man zu nah war. Allerdings sollte man es trotzdem nicht aergern und auch im Suesswasser fuehlen sich die Salzwasserkroks wohl. Die Kimberlys sind aber zu weit weg vom Strand... in der Regel.

If the crocodile swimms away if you come to close then it will be a freshwatercroc (apart from that it has a thinner mouth and seems to be so much more friendly), but if it dives down then you should run because it might be a saltwatercroc which found his prey.

This one here went away when you came to close. However you shouldn't tease it and it you think you are safe in fresh water you are wrong. But the Kimberlys are to far away from the ocean... in a general rule.

Einer der wenigen Bilder ohne doof zu gucken, aber schaut nicht auf die Fuesse. Eigentlich bin ich auch garnicht braun, alles Dreck.

One of the few pictures without a stupid face but don't look at my feed. Honestly I didn't get suntan, it is all dirt.

Zwangsuebernachtung mit Thunfisch aus der Dose. Der Grund ist glaube ich offensichtlich.
We got forced to spend a night there with tuna out of a can. I think the reason is obvious.

Ein Auto fuhr vorbei am Morgen als wir fruehstueckten... Cornflakes mit Kakao.

A car passed in the morning when we were eating... Cornflakes with chocolate drink.

BROOME

Broome ist eine sehr schoene kleine Stadt und vollgestopft mit diesen Backpackern. Ziehmlich guter Strand, aber sicher kein Ort um Ruhe zu geniessen.
Kaum angekommen mussten wir doch zu allererst mal Krokodile sehen...
Broome is a very beautiful little town, full with all the bloody backpackers. Very good beach but for sure not a place to enjoy silence.
As soon as we arrived we had to see crocodiles at first...


Hoch motiviert, angstfrei und neugierig vor dem Eingang.

Das war das letzte Mal, dass ich Ewelina gesehen hab.
That was last time I have seen Ewelina.

Natuerlich war das da oben mit Ewelina nicht echt, aber das hier ist es... Gut, dass die eingezauent waren. Wenn so ein Krokodil beim Sonnenbaden ist muss man schon 2 mal hinsehen bis man es bemerkt, selbst die ganz grossen. Mit Salzwasserkrokodilen ist nicht zu spassen und einige Backpacker die meinten trotz Warnungen schwimmen zu gehen sind auch nicht mehr aufgetaucht. Wir waren auch bei der Fuetterung dabei (nein, keine Backpacker) und da vergeht einem die Lust ins Wasser zu springen. Was fuer schoene Urzeitmonster.
Die meisten dort wurden eingefangen weil sie zu nah an Menschen gelebt haben, oder verletzt waren.
The one with Ewelina was not real of course but this one here is... Good that there were fences. If there is a croc lying in the sun you have to look twice to notice it, even the big ones. Saltwatercrocs are not friendly and some backpackers who went for a swim, ignoring the warnings, never got out. We have seen the feeding (noooo, not backpackers) and you really don't want to jump in the water anymore. What beautiful prehistoric monsters.
Most of them got caught because they were living to close to people or they were injured.

Die fuehlen sich wahnsinnig schoen an, sehr weich. In dieser Farm werden Krokodile auch aufgezogen fur das Fleisch und die Haut. Immernoch besser als Wildfaenge.

They really feel nice and soft. In this farm they raise the crocs for the meat and the skin. Still better then catching them in free nature.

Nachdem wir da lebend rausgekommen sind erstmal zum Strand ins Wasser springen. Wir haben wohl doch nichts gelernt... Aber Hauptsache eine dicke Schicht Sonnencreme drauf und ein dummes Gesicht machen, vielleicht haelt das die Krokodile fern. Aber keine Sorge, da flog immer ein Wasserflugzeug rum von der Kuestenwache und haben geguckt ob da eins rumschwimmt. Voll beruhigend...

After we survived this farm we went straight to the beach to jump in the water. I guess we didn't learn our lessen... But the main thing is to put a thick layer suncreme on and make a stupid face. Maybe that holds the crocs back. But no worries, there was a plane from the coast guard and they were looking out for them. Really comforting...

Karijini National Park

Dieser Nationalpark ist meiner Meinung nach einer der schoensten die ich bisher gesehen habe. Super gut zum Wandern und genug Wasser um sich abzukuehlen.

I think this national park is one of the most beautiful ones I have seen here. Really good for walks and enough water to cool down.

Der Ausblick von oben. Das war soooo tief und es war ein langer weg nach unten. Nur rauf war es noch viiiiiel laenger.

Endlich unten mussten wir uns erstmal abkuehlen. Finaly down we had to cool down first.

Ich wollte dann ein schoenes Bild machen, aber irgendwas stimmt da nicht... I wanted to take a nice picture but something is not right...

Junge Buckelwale direkt vorm Boot. Die 2 haben sich da etwa 20 min aufgehalten und sind immer wieder unter dem Boot durchgetaucht. Leider kommt auf den Bildern nicht rueber wie gross sie waren (ueber 10m) und ihre Geraeusche geben dir eine Gaensehaut. Ich hab jetzt noch Traenen in den Augen wenn ich daran denke. Die Videos kann ich euch hoffentlich irgendwann mal zeigen.

Young hump back whales right on the boat. These 2 were there for 20 min and were diving under the boat a lot of times. Unfortunately you can't see on the pictures how big they were (over 10m) and there noises give you guise bumbs. I still have tears in my eyes when I think about that. I hope I can show you the videos one day.

Auf Wiedersehen Exmouth. Noch einmal essen und an die wunderschoene Unterwasserwelt denken. Ich wuenschte die Bilder mit dem 4m grossen Manta-Rochen der durch eine Putzstation geflogen ist und dem Rotfeuerfisch waeren was geworden. Dies war wohl eine der besten Zeiten in meinem Leben!

Goodbye exmouth. Last meal and thinking about the beautiful underwater world. I wish the pictures withe the 4m Manta ray who was flying circles at the cleaning station and the Lion fish weren't to bad to see anything. I think this was one of the best times in my life!
